Monster Association Arc[]

Darkshine 2.

Darkshine announcing his desire to fight

Due to the outbreak of monsters across many of the cities, Darkshine is assigned as the security guard of the Hero Association HQ. The Tiger level monster Destrochloridium is about to shoot everyone within the meeting room with the human vessel it took over until Darkshine intervenes and throws the human to the wall behind him. The parasite then tries to take over Darkshine's body using its drills that are tougher than steel, but the hero notes that his well-trained body can't even be pierced by steel. He kills Destrochloridium and shows off his muscles in an attempt to calm the staff before announcing that the Monster Association should be the ones who should be worrying.[7]

Darkshine is later seen gathering alongside Pig God, Tatsumaki, Atomic Samurai and his three disciples, and Sweet Mask in preparation against the Monster Association. He is later seen in the S-Class meeting before the Monster Association raid. Darkshine shows visible excitement going into the raid, saying that the only thing he fought was a parasite since the monster attacks started. When Sweet Mask appears, Darkshine tries to calm down the situation a bit before it gets out of hand. He is later seen doing squats with a vehicle to warm up before the raid commences.[8]

Superalloy Darkshine runs through monsters

Darkshine killing monsters by running

During the initial attack against the Monster Association, Darkshine moved two heroes out of the way of heavy falling rubble.[9] Darkshine was instead hit by the rubble but was unfazed by it. Darkshine comes to Mizuki's aid after she's overwhelmed by monsters. Complementing her muscles, he simply swats away the monsters that were attacking her. Darkshine again comes to Mizuki and Gearsper's aid as monsters charged towards them. He tells Mizuki to rest, taking no notice of the monsters attacking him from the front. He then kills the monsters by running through them, taking no damage whatsoever. Darkshine comments on the remains of Evil Eye from Tatsumaki's battle.

Bug God attacks Superalloy Darkshine

Darkshine withstanding blows from Bug God

After entering the Monster Association base, Darkshine is attacked by Bug God, who throws a series of punches at him. He effortlessly withstands the blows and voices his disappointment at Bug God's strength and lack of a dark shine. Eventually, Bug God gets angry at Darkshine, saying that even Garou's attacks were ineffective against the monster, and transforms into a stronger form. Darkshine once again takes no damage from the newly transformed Bug God, and then blows off the entire monster's upper body with a simple punch, effectively killing it.

Darkshine eventually stumbles upon a fallen Puri-Puri Prisoner who just got hit through a wall by Garou. Puri-Puri Prisoner tells Darkshine not to underestimate Garou, and that even he was not able to scratch the Hero Hunter. Darkshine tells him that he will crush Garou on his behalf and that the Hero Hunter will not be able to scratch him. He then confronts and prepares to fight Garou.

He is able to take Garou down in one tackle, breaking his ribcage, but Garou gets up. Garou then starts to assault Darkshine, with the latter noticing that Garou is increasing in power and speed. The hero eventually feels overwhelmed as Garou starts utilizing Cross Fang Dragon Slayer Fist against him. Darkshine then decides to unleash his Superalloy Bazooka but to no avail as Garou clashes against Darkshine's fist with his own.[10]

Garou strikes Darkshine in the chest

Garou strikes Darkshine in the chest

As the battle continues Darkshine realizes he is steadily being outmatched by the Human Monster. Beaten back until getting knocked through a wall, the S-Class hero realizes too late that Garou had been sharpening his techniques upon him the entire time.[11]

After being repeatedly beaten down Darkshine, begins losing faith in his ability as a high tier fighter, coming to the understanding that the opponent before him was not an opponent he could triumph over with his ability alone. As all of his attacks are constantly deflected and countered, Darkshine suffers a crisis of conscience and is left a panicking mess just as Garou moves in to finish him. When his assailant pulls back at the last second, the hero manages a weak counterattack which the Hero Hunter easily dodges.

At that moment in time Tatsumaki begins tearing through the Monster Associations HQ using her power. As his opponent collapses due to pain and fatigue setting in, Darkshine calls out to him to run away as he's lifted away by a telekinetic barrier. His determination thoroughly decimated, Darkshine sits alone huddled in fear and self-disappointment.[12]

When Darkshine resurfaces, both Zombieman and Puri-Puri Prisoner are surprised to see that he was bested in hand-to-hand combat by Garou. Darkshine tells the heroes that he gives up, realizing that Garou was right in saying that he was just looking for a victory that would feel good. Sweet Mask angrily kicks Darkshine multiple times and berates him, telling him that the raid has no room for cowards. However, noticing that Darkshine is unscathed from those kicks, Puri-Puri Prisoner encourages Darkshine that he still has strength and Sweet Mask says that like him, they are heroes and they must get up and keep moving forward. After these words of encouragement from both heroes, as well as the threat of a deep kiss from Puri-Puri Prisoner, Darkshine gets up and says that he won't lose like that. After the arrival of Tanktop Master, Darkshine and the other heroes on the surface eventually decide to cooperate and devise a plan to defeat Psykos and Orochi.

Darkshine prepares to use his Superalloy Missile

Eventually, the plan is put in motion as Tanktop Master hurls a building containing Darkshine, Atomic Samurai, and Puri-Puri Prisoner at the fusion. After Atomic Samurai and Puri-Puri Prisoner perform their attacks, Darkshine kicks the fusion with his Superalloy Missile, causing it to roar in pain. The three heroes then land on the ground next to Bang and Bomb.

Ch145 SuperalloyDarkshine Deflects ENW

Darkshine uses Evil Natural Water as a high-pressure shower

Darkshine is then seen coming to the aid of Iaian by taking the brunt of Evil Natural Water's high-pressure jet streams and saving the swordsman. Seeing that the attack seemed perfectly like a nice shower after a workout and that it increases his shine, Darkshine continues to playfully take multiple jet streams from Evil Natural Water to the amazement of both Atomic Samurai and Iaian. Feeling that he's had enough of a high-pressure shower, Darkshine then seemingly dispatches of the executive in a single blow. Darkshine then eventually joins Tatsumaki, Bang, Atomic Samurai, and Genos in taking care of Black Sperm by dispatching of a few the clones that continued to go after the cyborg. Confident in himself, Darkshine looks down on Black Sperm and notes that the monster does not have enough shine despite being so dark much to the executive's chagrin.

Fuhrer Ugly and Darkshine clashing fist

Darkshine clashing with Fuhrer Ugly

Soon, while Darkshine and the other heroes are fending off countless copies of Black Sperm, the Council of Swordmasters and Spring Mustachio come to their support. Together, they are able to effectively defend against the black monster until Fuhrer Ugly arrives in his mutated form. Upon arrival, Fuhrer Ugly demands to fight Bang for revenge and immediately, Darkshine rushes towards him with his Superalloy Double Bazooka, which Fuhrer Ugly is able to match his fists with a similar type of attack. Due to the monster's strength and newfound abilities, Darkshine's attack is not only negated, but the acid on the monster's body starts to dissolve his hands. Fuhrer Ugly proceeds to shoot an acid spit on Darkshine, which hits his chest, causing him to spin on the ground suffering great pain.

Golden Sperm attacks Darkshine

Darkshine is knocked out by Golden Sperm

After Golden Sperm and Homeless Emperor appear and punish Fuhrer Ugly, who then leaves them to find Bang, Superalloy Darkshine is confronted by Golden Sperm. Seeing Darkshine lose his confidence and shed tears despite only suffering minor damage from Fuhrer Ugly's digestive fluids, Golden Sperm comments about his unworthiness for being an S-Class hero shortly before landing a punch on his face, which sends him flying a considerable distance towards Iaian, Atomic Samurai and Spring Mustachio's whereabouts.

Later, Puri-Puri Prisoner is assigned to find his friend Darkshine to help defeat the newly formed Garou.

He eventually finds Darkshine under all the rubble, but he is still down and not determined to fight. Puri-Puri Prisoner tries to get him to get back up and punches him with a full-force Angel Punch to prove that he is very strong. The punch had a very minimal effect and left Darkshine unscathed. His talk with Puri-Puri Prisoner leaves him more determined and willing to fight and he goes back up to fight with Flashy Flash against Garou. He then tried to do his Superalloy Butterfly, but Saitama got in the way. Later, he uses his powerful Superalloy Bazooka, but Garou seemingly blocks it with both hands before transforming and defeating Flashy Flash and Darkshine.

It should be noted that Darkshine did get up twice after getting hit by the human monster, the only other S-Class hero besides Flashy Flash to perform this incredible feat.
