One-Punch Man Wiki

The Super Fight Arc is the fourteenth arc of the One-Punch Man series, and the fifth arc of the Human Monster Saga.

Plot[]

Suiryu and Sneck face off. Sneck reminisces about his career as a hero. He wonders whether heroes are truly necessary while Suiryu deftly dodges his attacks. During their fight, they engage in a brief discussion. Meanwhile, Sweet Mask's concert is interrupted by monsters. Some other monsters attack the hospital, where Tanktop Master and Mumen Rider are staying, as well as Smelly Lid Prison.

Suiryu tells Sneck that the strong will survive no matter what before knocking him out. Gyoro Gyoro discusses the monster raid's situation with Orochi. On his way to the C-City Super Stadium, Gouketsu takes down a damaged Genos.

At the Super Fight, Volten defeats Gatlin, Choze beats Dave, and Saitama emerges victorious against Sour Face. Genos wakes up after his defeat by Gouketsu and decides to call for Dr. Kuseno's body recovery drones. Drive Knight takes care of several monsters and interrogates one for information about the invasion. Child Emperor uses Underdog Man to analyze Eyesight's poisons in search of a cure for paralysis. He then attempts to detonate Underdog Man No. 22, but it fails to kill Eyesight, who hardens her skin. Eyesight finds Child Emperor but is interrupted and eaten by Pig God, who then decides to go after the other monsters in Y-City. Watchdog Man sits atop a defeated Monster Association invasion force of around 30 monsters as Garou attempts to attack him.

Hundred-Eyes Octopus easily defeats several B-Class heroes. The octopus monster tries to kill Red Muffler, but Bone saves him, and they carry the knocked-out heroes to safety. Bone attempts to confront the monster alone but is crushed by the octopus's tentacle. Death Gatling and other A-Class heroes come to Red Muffler's aid, but before they can act, Flashy Flash rushes in to attack Hundred-Eyes Octopus.

Flashy Flash blinds the monster by slicing all of its eyes, causing it to writhe in pain and destroy more nearby infrastructure. Everyone except Flash retreats, and just as he is about to finish the octopus monster, Tatsumaki pulls it off the ground, crushes it into a ball in the air, and drops it. Tatsumaki then scolds everyone for not dealing with the monster quickly enough. Flash attempts to defend himself but is stopped by the other heroes. Gyoro Gyoro and Orochi discuss the revelation of the S-Class's power. Orochi assures Gyoro Gyoro that it won't be a problem and that they can create as many Mysterious Beings as needed.

Meanwhile, Iaian, Okamaitachi, and Bushidrill wait outside, discussing Garou's hero hunt while their master Atomic Samurai attends a meeting with the Council of Swordmasters. During the meeting, Atomic Samurai seeks the council's help in capturing and killing Garou, fearing Bang might fail. The council members agree, except for Haragiri, who mocks Atomic Samurai's plea. Haragiri reveals the Monster Cells he received from the Monster Association, transforming into a Mysterious Being himself. He orders the others to consume the cells or face death, but Atomic Samurai swiftly kills him.

Through his robot, Bofoi questions Orochi and Gyoro Gyoro about their goals. They explain that while destruction is a natural instinct for monsters, it is not their end goal.

Meanwhile, the Super Fight nears its conclusion as Saitama and Suiryu defeat their opponents and prepare to face each other in the final round. As Suiryu and Saitama size each other up, the announcer and audience remain oblivious to the true nature of the situation, while several defeated fighters also wonder what's truly happening.

Suiryu takes the fight more seriously, using powerful kicks to push Saitama to the edge of the arena. He kicks Saitama into the air and back down, landing on his face, shocking the spectators. Saitama emerges unscathed, trying to keep his wig on. As they fight, Sneck and Max comment on Suiryu's fighting style, noting his reliance on leg techniques and his hidden strength. Suiryu declares he will only use kicks to make the fight more exciting, daring Saitama to punch him, but Saitama simply backs away. Suiryu analyzes Saitama and inquires about his daily routine. When Saitama inadvertently mentions fighting monsters, Suiryu quickly blows off his claim on being a hero, asserting there are no true good heroes.

Meanwhile, the Tank Topper Army battles the monsters invading the hospital, with Mumen Rider struggling against Gyoffrey while trying to protect the patients, but he is saved by Tanktop Master.

During the Super Fight, Suiryu continues to criticize heroes and the industry, before kicking Saitama in the head and knocking off his wig. Saitama responds, warning Suiryu not to get any stronger if he wants to enjoy the fight. He throws a punch that stops just short of Suiryu's face, tearing his shirt with the resulting wind pressure.

Saitama is disqualified for wearing a wig, declaring Suiryu the winner. However, Suiryu continues to attack, splitting the ring in half and launching multiple barrages of strikes at Saitama, who remains unfazed. Saitama concludes that martial arts is merely about moving in a cool way. In an accidental move, Saitama launches Suiryu out of the ring while trying to mimic one of Suiryu's techniques and then flees to avoid capture. The closing ceremony commences but is abruptly interrupted by monsters. The Three Crows bring the contestants that were supposed to be transported to the hospital back to the ring, and Benpatsu tries to escape but is stopped by Gouketsu, who informs them they are all going to become monsters.

The Super Fight Announcer reveals that Gouketsu is the champion of the first Super Fight. Gouketsu explains his previous disappearance: Orochi defeated him years ago but spared his life in exchange for Gouketsu's service to the Monster Association. Gouketsu accepted because they offered him immense power with a monster cell. After sharing his story, Gouketsu gives the martial artists a choice: become monsters or die. Rosie rushes to consume a monster cell and attacks an injured Dave after transforming. Choze snaps Rosie's neck and eats one for himself. After transforming, Choze knocks Jakumen out of the ring, prompting Benpatsu, Hamukichi, and Volten to consume a monster cell as well. Suiryu asks a civilian if he can date her if he defeats the monsters; she nods in agreement. With renewed motivation, Suiryu prepares to fight.

Suiryu confronts the martial artists who have become monsters, easily defeating Benpatsu, Hamukichi, and Volten. He then faces the monsterized Choze, who proves to be a formidable opponent. Suiryu manages to provoke Choze, who retaliates with a deadly energy sphere from his horns. Suiryu deflects the energy sphere and engages Choze again. With Choze defeated after a relatively difficult fight, Suiryu confronts Gouketsu, who suggests it would be a waste to kill him. Gouketsu recognizes Suiryu's strength and offers him a high-ranking position within the organization, guaranteeing an easy life. For a moment, Suiryu considers the offer and nearly consumes a Monster Cell, shocking the other observing contestants. However, he ultimately declares he has no intention of becoming an ugly monster like Gouketsu and attacks him instead. Gouketsu remains unfazed by Suiryu's assault and counters with a strike that stops him, inflicting significant injury.

Despite his injuries, Suiryu manages to land multiple hits on Gouketsu, but they prove ineffective. When he notices that the other martial artists have been defeated by The Three Crows, he lowers his guard and is punched and stomped by Gouketsu. Summoning enough strength, Suiryu escapes Gouketsu's grasp and launches into a Void Shaking Tiger Fist, but finds himself outmatched as Gouketsu easily catches the blow. Gouketsu toys with Suiryu, resulting in severe injuries.

Gouketsu orders The Three Crows to kill Suiryu, who is now unable to effectively fight back due to his injuries. Suiryu notices Bakuzan watching from the sidelines and pleads for help, but Bakuzan refuses. Instead, he consumes several Monster Cells, becoming overwhelmed and collapsing. Despairing, Suiryu faces The Crows' attack but is saved by Sneck and Max. They team up, successfully eliminating The Three Crows.

Afterward, Suiryu thanks the heroes for their assistance and suggests they should flee. However, the heroes choose to stay and fight, attempting to buy time for Suiryu to escape. They are quickly overpowered, and Bakuzan, now a monster, intercepts Suiryu as he tries to flee, sending him crashing back to the ground. Suiryu rises one last time but is relentlessly beaten down by Bakuzan.

Gyoro Gyoro uses its small spy drones to oversee the now-destroyed cities, informing Orochi that their plan to instill fear in the humans is complete. Waganma has been brought back as a hostage, and when Phoenix Man requests reinforcements from Gyoro Gyoro—since some monsters are cornered by heroes—his request is denied. The monsters discuss their objectives and note that Nyan and Gouketsu have successfully recruited many monsters. Through the spy drone, Gyoro Gyoro instructs Gouketsu to leave the stadium. Gouketsu, in turn, tells Bakuzan to accompany him to the Monster Association hideout. However, Bakuzan chooses to fight Gouketsu, only for all his attacks to prove ineffective. After narrowly missing Bakuzan with a strong punch, Gouketsu warns him against taking on the entire Hero Association alone before heading to Z-City, the meeting point of the Monster Association.

Once Gouketsu leaves the stadium, Bakuzan reflects on the existence of a monster organization that surpasses his own strength. Suiryu, still conscious from the beating, tells Bakuzan that he is not his enemy. Nevertheless, Bakuzan grabs Suiryu by his hair and reveals that his desire for strength stems from wanting to torment those weaker than him. Bakuzan begins to inflict pain on Suiryu by breaking both of his legs. When Suiryu concedes defeat, Bakuzan demands he lick his feet, claiming he might spare his life; Suiryu instead breaks Bakuzan's toe. Desperate, Suiryu screams for help from a hero, calling out to the unconscious Sneck and Max, clinging to the hope that aid may arrive. In response, Bakuzan decides to stomp on Sneck to further torment Suiryu, but Sneck is saved by Saitama.

After hearing Suiryu's cry for help, Saitama rushes to his rescue and faces Bakuzan. Bakuzan taunts Saitama, boasting about his strength and angrily mentioning his Charanko identity, which confuses Saitama. He then launches a series of attacks, all of which have no effect. Meanwhile, Saitama struggles to recall where he has met Bakuzan but ultimately cannot remember. Regardless, he effortlessly kills Bakuzan with a single punch.

Saitama introduces himself to Suiryu, who thanks him and warns him about the Monster Association. He urges Saitama to hide from Gouketsu. Upon discovering that Gouketsu is a martial arts master, Saitama chooses to pursue him, despite Suiryu's attempts to stop him. Suiryu insists that more people will need Saitama in the future.

Meanwhile, Saitama swiftly defeats Gouketsu with another punch. Moments later, Gouketsu’s decapitated head lands in front of Suiryu in the stadium. Saitama asks the stunned Suiryu to keep his participation in the tournament a secret. Suiryu expresses his aspiration to become a great hero and requests Saitama to take him on as a disciple, but Saitama bluntly refuses.

Puri-Puri Prisoner is engaged in combat with the spiked monster Free Hugger and is covered in cuts. He appears to be losing since he is fighting with just his bare hands, prompting the crowd to suggest he use the iron ball chained to his leg. Unable to hear their advice, he decides to "accept all of the pain with deep, overflowing love." He then squeezes Free Hugger, securing his victory. Soon after, while bleeding profusely, he receives a call informing him that his cellmates have been kidnapped.

Saitama is seen running around in search of monsters to fight but finds none alive. He encounters a wounded Water Gun, who informs him about the powerful monsters he faced, all of whom left about thirty minutes earlier.

Saitama contemplates how he didn’t even notice such a significant event occurring. This realization prompts him to question his identity as a hero. However, he corrects himself, recognizing that he never cared about others’ opinions and that his own satisfaction is what truly matters. He reflects on how the "Hero-Hunter" situation piqued his interest and led him to join the tournament, only to realize he gained nothing from it.

While reflecting, Saitama unexpectedly meets King in a deserted street. The two share a deep conversation, during which King offers insightful advice, stating that although Saitama may be the most powerful hero, he is not necessarily the best hero. King invites Saitama to play video games and promises to play with only two fingers, which excites Saitama.

Meanwhile, an injured Garou flees after losing to Watchdog Man. He reflects on how his techniques were designed for human opponents, but Watchdog Man, fighting like a quadruped, easily overcomes Garou's attacks. When Garou encounters Saitama and King, he decides to attack King. However, before he can pounce, Saitama kicks him, sending him crashing into a brick wall. Saitama then tells King that he hopes to face the Human Monster (unbeknownst to him, Garou) someday, acknowledging that he may ultimately prove stronger than Saitama.
