— Boros after surviving a punch from Saitama.[1] |
Having become overwhelmingly powerful due to his rigorous training regimen, Saitama can defeat nearly all of his opponents, particularly Mysterious Beings, with just a single punch. The force behind his strikes is so immense that many monsters, including Dragon-level threats, appear to "explode" upon impact. However, there have been a few instances where some have survived one of Saitama's punches, but they may have experienced varying degrees of impact, with some receiving weaker blows while others faced more powerful strikes. Despite this, none have managed to present a genuine challenge to Saitama, who finds himself frequently holding back his true strength, resulting in feelings of boredom and dissatisfaction.
When facing human opponents, Saitama restrains himself even further, using only enough strength to incapacitate or knock them out without causing serious harm.
List of Mysterious Beings that have Survived a Punch from Saitama[]
Description[]
Boros[]
Boros was the first on-screen opponent of Saitama that survived after getting punched, much to his surprise.[5] In his fight with Saitama, Boros was hit with 3 normal punches, a Consecutive Normal Punches attack, as well as the shockwave from the hero's Serious Punch. After this, Boros was fatally injured on the ground but still conscious for a short period of time before his death. Saitama considered him to be the strongest opponent he had faced up to that point.
Overgrown Rover[]
Overgrown Rover confronted Saitama while he was wandering in the Monster Association Headquarters. Upon seeing the hero, Rover relentlessly bombarded him with energy blasts until Saitama, irritated by its misbehavior, knocked it out with a single punch powerful enough to tremble the entire headquarters. Despite sustaining considerable damage, Rover survived, as Saitama treated it like a large dog, even attempting to tame it and offering a bone.
Orochi[]
Orochi crossed paths with Saitama while the hero was investigating the source of strange noises beneath his apartment in the Monster Association Headquarters. In their underground fight, a single punch from Saitama blew Orochi's body apart, yet the Monster King managed to survive by absorbing blood from other creatures to regenerate.
Garou[]
After defeating Sage Centipede, Garou encountered Saitama. Initially, it seemed Garou had been defeated in one punch,[6] but he quickly recovered to challenge the Caped Baldy again. Throughout their fight, Garou endured numerous attacks, including punches and slaps from Saitama, yet continued to fight back.[7] Notably, after transforming into his Cosmic Fear Mode under the influence of "God", Garou could withstand several Serious Punches before ultimately being defeated.[8][9]
In the original webcomic, following his victories over Golden Sperm and several S-Class heroes, Garou, in his awakened state, challenged Saitama. He became the second character to persist after multiple punches from Saitama, managing to evade some blows. He took at least seven normal punches, a Consecutive Normal Punches attack, an exchange with Saitama's Two-Handed Consecutive Normal Punches, and a Serious Headbutt. After all of this, Garou still had enough energy left to escape.
Evil Natural Water[]
In the manga, after Evil Natural Water merged with the ocean and grew exponentially in size, transforming into Evil Ocean Water, Saitama unleashed a Serious Punch that completely dispersed it, although its eyes remained intact. It survived but was drastically diminished in size, with very little water left.
In the original webcomic, Evil Natural Water interrupted Saitama just before his fight with Awakened Garou, and he dispatched it with a single punch, causing the water to rain down. Despite its apparent death, the monster was later revealed to have survived, albeit reduced in size, similar to its condition in the manga.
Trivia[]
- Although Kombu Infinity is still alive after its fight with Saitama, it is unclear whether he has defeated the monster by punching it, as the battle was off-screen.
- The fight was depicted extra-canonically in the One Punch Man: World game, but in it Saitama defeats Kombu with a "slap", and not with a punch.
- It is unknown if Men's Esthetician Man survived being punched by Saitama, as he was a Mysterious Being but looked very much like a human.
- Although Mosquito Girl survived an attack from Saitama, it was a "slap," not a punch.
