Genos' body is powered by an energy sphere labeled Core (コア, Koa), which is connected to him via a single cable and housed in his chest. This core serves as Genos' primary energy source, effectively functioning as his heart. If the core is destroyed or removed, it will lead to the cyborg's death.

Towards the end of his battle against Mosquito Girl, Genos' core was seen charging with energy in an attempt to self-destruct and take her down with him. In his effort to destroy the meteor, he removed the core from his chest and placed it in his arm, channeling all the energy into his Incineration Cannon to enhance its power.[1] During his fight with Psykos and Orochi, it is revealed that the core functions as a nuclear reactor.[2]

Moreover, the core has the ability to record everything occurring around it, even if Genos is dead. It was able to transmit the events of the Ominous Future to Genos after Saitama surprisingly went back in time, bringing it along from that future.[3]

In a new upgrade, Genos can now harness his core to unleash a massive burst of blinding light. He tests this new move on Saitama during their second sparring match, prompting Saitama to comment on how much brighter he has become.
