| — The ninja duo preparing to kill Flashy Flash. |
Flashy Flash vs. Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame is the battle between the S-Class hero Flashy Flash and the two ninja monsters Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame of the Monster Association.
Prelude[]
Gale Wind dodges Flashy Flash's attack
While wandering through the corridors of the Monster Association Headquarters, Flashy Flash takes out some monsters who were boasting about their speed. Then, from behind him, Hellfire Flame uses his flaming sword and lights torches in the hallway, and Gale Wind begins applauding Flashy Flash, remarking his speed as splendid. Flashy Flash charges Gale Wind with his sword, but he evades the blow, beginning their battle.
Battle[]
Flashy Flash's Wind Blade Kick
Wind leaps onto the wall, eagerly declaring that their victory will be even sweeter due to Flash's remarkable speed. He then jumps down, flanking Flash from both sides. Flash strikes at Flame, but the latter successfully parries his sword. The two engage in a rapid exchange of blows while Wind observes from a short distance.
Attempting to hit Flame with his Wind Blade Kick, Flash finds Flame ducking and retaliating with his Flame Blade Kick. To evade the kick, Flash leaps to the ceiling, only to quickly discover that Wind had previously set up steel wires. As Wind triggers the wires, Flash narrowly avoids them. Wind comments on the heroes' arrogance for acting alone, while Flame agrees, stating it simplifies things for them. Wind then taunts that he will break Flash apart with his own speed. In response, Flash charges at both them while cutting the walls away, to the shock of Wind.
Flashy Flash destroys the corridor
Realizing that Wind and Flame hail from the Ninja Village and have joined the Monster Association to hunt him down, Flash deduces their intentions. Wind responds that things are getting cramped and flips over the stone they are standing on, revealing a deep ravine with a waterfall and a narrow bridge. Wind attempts to cut Flash with his steel wires, but Flash dodges and aims to slash at his neck, which Wind blocks with his dual kukris. The two ninjas then execute a combo attack called Storm Blade Kick, but Flash evades by dashing behind them and attempts a horizontal slash, which they also dodge. The two ninjas then leap from the wall onto nearby rocks, declaring themselves as the Golden 37th Graduation Class, destined to slay the hero.
The three ninjas fighting midair
The three ninjas exchange rapid blows, running across the water and leaping into the air while trading attacks. Flash demands to know who their employer is so he can confront them personally. They land on the bridge, and Wind chuckles, suggesting that perhaps their employer is the criminal Aburabozu. Flash counters that this is impossible, as he already eliminated that criminal, listing other threats like Harold, Chimagusa, Burigura, Devil Storm, and the higher-ups of the Coalition of Assassins, whom he dealt with in his spare time as a hero. In response, Wind states that all the names Flash mentioned were on their hit list after him, and thanks to Flash, they have been taken care of. Wind coldly orders the hero to perish, prompting the two monster ninjas to attack once more.
Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame after transforming
During the fight, Wind states that other ninjas from their village are the most formidable foes, to which Flash retorts that there are other ninja villages. Wind laughs, asserting that no other village has come close to their own. However, as they continue to clash, Flash accelerates to speeds that leave them unable to follow, catching them off guard. He taunts Wind and Flame, questioning why they haven't showcased the power gained through monsterification. They respond with sadistic smiles, and Flash explains his suspicion about their control over their abilities, suggesting they haven't been monsters for long.
Flashy Flash blocks Hellfire Flame's attack
The two ninjas begin to transform into their monster forms, and Flash mocks their folly in believing they could surpass him simply by becoming monsters. Suddenly, they vanish from sight, and Flash's eyes widen in surprise as they display increased speed. He is pressured to block both their attacks, marking the beginning of the second round of their fight.
Flashy Flash destroys Hellfire Flame's sword
With their enhanced speed, the monsters intensify their assault on Flash. Nevertheless, even as Flame employs his technique Fire Release: Blazing Scattering Slash, Flash manages to block it, shocking them both. Responding with his own move, Heavy Flash Slash, Flash destroys Flame's sword. Realizing this was Flash's plan all along, Flame becomes furious and attempts to strike with a flame-infused punch, which Flash deftly dodges. Wind expresses his astonishment at Flash's technical skill, noting that his precision outmatches both him and Flame. Wind claims that he senses no significant speed disadvantage and believes only they can handle Flash. The hero scoffs at their arrogance, stating he has trained more than anyone else in their village and has thoroughly analyzed their techniques.
Flashy Flash kills Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame
After Flash finishes his speech, the monsters decide to abandon their ninja tactics and engage in a display of brute speed and strength to demonstrate the superiority of monsters over humans. They leap into the air, and Wind knees Flash in the torso which knocks him back. Flame charges at him with a fire-imbued punch, but Flash deftly dodges and dashes toward Wind to exchange blows. Wind catches Flash's katana and the two monsters aim to strike him with powerful kicks, but he skillfully dodges both. Flash then leaps again, causing Wind to rush at him, knocking Flash's katana from his hand. The three engage in another flurry of rapid strikes mid-air. The monsters land several blows, making Flash cough up blood, seizing the moment to attempt a finishing strike. However, before they can land their attack, Flash retaliates with his Flash Kicks, the speed and force momentarily immobilizing the monsters. At high speed, he swiftly retrieves his katana and unleashes one of his ultimate techniques, Flash Slash, cleaving both monsters in half and securing his victory.
Flashy Flash walks away victorious
As the two monsters lie dying, Flame questions why Flash didn't use such a powerful attack from the start. Flash explains that he was waiting for the right moment to strike both simultaneously to prevent one from escaping, believing the other heroes would struggle against their speed. He further mocks them, suggesting their best strategy would have been to avoid confronting him entirely.
On the brink of death, Flame reveals that as ninjas, they are forced to operate in the shadows and are treated as tools rather than people. The true reason for their transformation into monsters was their desire to finally side with plunderers and rulers. Their final words ask Flash what they lack. He replies that they lack training. With that, the place collapses, and Flash walks away with minimal harm.
Aftermath[]
Flash leaves the battlefield and arrives at a junction. He goes to consult his locator to see where he is but finds that he lost it in the battle. Additionally, once Wind and Flame are resurrected by Phoenix Man and shocked out of their mindlessness by Brave Giant's Gigavolt Smash, the two ninjas go out to search for Flash and get their revenge on him.
Trivia[]
- In the webcomic, Flashy Flash instead fights Gale and Hellfire, who are two separate Demon-level monsters from Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame, and go on to proclaim their speed is unparalleled, although unlike Wind and Flame, Flash ends their lives in a single strike and beheads them, whereas Flash needed to use one of his ultimate techniques to defeat Wind and Flame.
- The purpose of changing the characters was to avoid copyright charges and to add some backstory to the Ninja Village.
- Murata drew Flash's hairpin being broken in the Tankōbon version.
