Overview |
Empty Void (虚空のヴォイド, Kokū no Voido), now known by the alias That Man (あの御 方, Ano Okata; Viz: The Great One), is the founder of the Ninja Village.[1]
He was once Blast's partner during their search for the mysterious cubes. At some point, he became a Mysterious Being and a minion of "God".
After being knocked out by Saitama, Void loses the divine power granted by "God" and returns to being human. As a result, he once again becomes Blast's partner, working with him to oppose "God".
Appearance[]
As a Mysterious Being, Void had a monstrous appearance with spiked skin and flamed hair. In the webcomic, he has different skin colors on different parts of his body.[2] His teeth were all razor-sharp.
As a human, Void is lean but muscular. A V-shaped mark on his forehead is likely his most prominent feature. He has light-colored, long, rough hair, which he ties in a ponytail. He wears goggles and a scarf, modern body armor, and a utility belt. His light-colored hair is cut similarly to Blast's, except toward the back where it forms into a long ponytail. He wears multiple pieces of armor on his arms, shoulders, chest, and back. Several pieces of cloth are wrapped around his torso. His two sheathed katanas are attached to his back, and small pouches are secured at his waist.

Personality[]
As a Mysterious Being, Void was loyal to "God" and served it faithfully. He subjected many ninjas of the Ninja Village to harsh trials in order to find candidates worthy of receiving "God's" power and becoming its minions.
Once freed from "God's" influence and returned to human form, Void regains his self-awareness. He expresses regret for the actions he took while under the entity and admits he remembers everything from his time under its control, describing the experience as having his flaws amplified. He is remorseful for not trusting Blast and falling into "God's" trap. Though he wants to make amends to the Heavenly Ninja Party for their suffering in the village, he prioritizes resuming his role as Blast's partner to oppose "God" together, showing a sense of duty and responsibility.
In the webcomic, Void is depicted to be an utterly ruthless, malevolent, cunning, bloodthirsty, and despicable individual. Having been alive for more than three hundred years, he has used his powers and skills to assassinate hundreds of thousands of people over his lifetime. He is the founder of the Ninja Village and the starter of atrocious regiments children are put through, and even after founding the village, he continued to assassinate people. When killing his targets, if he comes across people with strong bodies, he will take their bodies away to (presumably) use their body parts to stay young and fresh.
History[]
Void grew up in an organization similar to the Ninja Village he would later establish. After graduation, the students scattered and began killing each other in a struggle for power and control. He was the only survivor of that organization.
During his time as an assassin, Void was regarded as the most powerful ninja in history. He was responsible for the deaths of several important historical figures. The number of his confirmed kills reached six digits, meaning he assassinated at least 100,000 targets.
At some point in the past, Void founded the Ninja Village.
In the past, under still-unclear circumstances, Void formed an alliance with Blast and a group of collaborators in search of mysterious cubes, objects with the ability to transform humans into monsters. They discovered these cubes could also be used to communicate with "God" and referred to them as ooparts (out-of-place artifacts).

Later on, Void became a Mysterious Being after receiving powers from "God". This happened because he did not trust Blast and acted recklessly, which led him to fall into "God's" trap. As a Mysterious Being and minion of "God", he fought Blast but was defeated. He was then placed in a recovery capsule within the village. Due to a barrier Void had set around the village, Blast could not locate him, giving him the time he needed to recover. During their time in the village, Sonic and Flash discovered him resting in the recovery capsule, with a mysterious cube enshrined in the same chamber.
In the original webcomic, Void was said to be born about three hundred years ago.[2] Since that time, he honed his skills and started his career as an assassin. His unbelievable power and skills allowed him to reach the top of the assassination industry and give him enough ties to rule the world in the shadows. During this time, he killed several high-profile individuals whose names would be passed down in history.
Because of this, Void was regarded as the most powerful ninja to walk the Earth.[1] Sometime in the past, he founded the Ninja Village.[1] The village trained ninja assassins and sent them to factories of the underworld.[3]
Sometime later, Void challenged Blast, but he was defeated and put in a coma. The village placed him in a recovery capsule where he layed dormant for 15 years.[1]

Neo Heroes Saga[]
Ninjas Arc[]
Void mentioned as the leader of the Heavenly Ninja Party.
While resting in his hideout, Speed-o'-Sound Sonic is approached by the Heavenly Ninja Party, a group of elite ninjas from past graduating classes of the Ninja Village, including Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame. They tell Sonic that Empty Void, whom they call "That Man", has awoken. They reveal their plan to eliminate Flashy Flash and Blast, with Void as their leader, and step out of the shadows to rule the world using their superior ninjutsu.
Void defeated by Saitama.
After Sonic and Flash's battle against the Heavenly Ninja Party, Blast teleports everyone to Sonic's hideout. There, they find Saitama sitting next to a figure-shaped crater visible on the ground. Blast explains that before interrupting the battle between the ninjas, he arrived at the place, only to find Void already beaten by Saitama. Saitama then explains that when he arrived at Sonic's hideout, Void attacked him but was defeated with a single punch, his body sinking into the ground. The Heavenly Ninja Party refuses to believe this and attacks Saitama for ridiculing their leader, only to be knocked to the ground one by one.
Void becoming human again.
Suddenly, a crack opens in the sky, resembling a dimensional tear. This occurs because Blast has strayed too far from his assigned post. Byakko and Genbu, divine beasts who serve as guardians of "God", burst through from the Rift in Spacetime. They immediately unleash destruction, firing a powerful energy blast at those present, which Blast shields everyone present within an energy barrier. The attack levels surrounding city blocks and causes widespread destruction. Void, awakened from being knocked out by Saitama earlier, uses his Dimension Slash to cleanly cut through the two beasts. Blast follows up with his Giga Gravity Blow, bombarding them with gravitational energy spheres that launch them skyward. Blast then seals the dimensional tear, sending the eliminated beasts back to where they came from. Void lands on the ground, and his monsterized face cracks apart, revealing the human face underneath. Blast calls his name with joy, as Void has broken free of "God's" influence and become human again.
Void fending off Sonic and Flash.
He is then attacked by Sonic and Flash, but fends them off. Blast stops them, explaining that Void only put them through hell at the Ninja Village because he was under "God's" control, though they insist they were only testing his skills. Void admits he still remembers everything from the time he served "God", describing it as having his flaws amplified. He expresses regret for not trusting Blast and falling into "God's" trap. He then comments on how Sonic and Flash differ from the Heavenly Ninja Party, noting that they do not look down on their comrades, though the two scoff at the idea. Void turns to the Heavenly Ninja Party and tells them he must return to the front line against "God", stating he will make it up to them later. Blast activates his portal ability, after which he and Void dimensional hop to the Rift in Spacetime.
There, they surprisingly discover not just Byakko and Genbu's bodies, but also Kirin. Void asks Blast if he was the one who defeated it, but Blast says no, stating it is obvious who (Saitama) did.
Saitama punches the Ninja Village Leader into the ground.
In the original webcomic, after Sonic and Flash kill the entire Heavenly Ninja Party, he is revealed to have been observing the battle go down from a nearby rooftop.
The two later arrive at Sonic's residence, where they find Saitama, sitting over a hole in the ground and holding Void's equipment. Saitama explains that Void approached him and monologued about his legendary demon blades and his immense power. He then attacked Saitama, who easily defeated him with a single downward punch, and was stripped of all of his weapons.
Abilities and Powers[]
As the leader of the Ninja Village, Empty Void is a very powerful individual. He fought Blast, the top-ranking S-Class hero, and was defeated even after gaining the power from monsterization. It's unclear how much difficulty Blast faced in defeating him.
Void has a body count in the six figures and is responsible for the deaths of many notable historical figures. He stood at the top of the assassin industry and ruled the world from behind the scenes. All ninjas who graduated from the village regard him as the most powerful ninja to ever walk the Earth. As a human, Void was capable of overpowering Byakko and Genbu, two divine beasts whose disaster levels surpass that of Dragon. He also showed little to no difficulty defending against Flash and Sonic, who were trying to test his skills.
In the webcomic, one of his scrolls contains a technique that Flash used to instantly kill Heavy Smoker, a Dragon-level threat that was withstanding attacks from Tanktop Master.
Physical Abilities[]
Immense Speed and Reflexes: Void was capable of easily keeping up with and fending off both Flash and Sonic at the same time, moving so fast that some members of the Heavenly Ninja Party were unable to see him.
Fighting Style[]
Ninjutsu Master: Being considered the strongest ninja to have ever lived, Void possesses great mastery over ninjutsu.
- Concealment Barrier: Void can cast a special barrier that renders both himself and even something as large as the Ninja Village completely undetectable. The barrier he cast allowed him to rest and recover without being found by Blast after their battle.[4]
Void using Dimension Slash.
- Dimension Slash (次元斬, Jigenzan): Void delivers powerful slashes with his dual swords. This technique was strong enough to cleanly slice through Byakko and Genbu, two divine beasts with a disaster level exceeding Dragon. The attack appears to produce wide-reaching slashes relative to the blade's range, allowing him to cut through large-sized enemies even though the swords themselves are relatively small. In a now non-canon depiction, the technique was shown as far more powerful, capable of cleaving space itself to cut through normal defenses.[5] Following this, the spatial-cutting property has not been mentioned again, though the technique may still retain this ability, as its name continues to suggest the same meaning.
- Sky Ripping Scattered Flash Slash (裂空散閃斬, Rekkū Sansenzan): Void creates powerful hurricanes which he can control by spinning his sword at incredible speeds. Though he's never been seen using it, it can be implied that he can use this technique, since he carried the scroll that detailed how this move is performed.
- Speed of Sound Electric Discharge Fist (音速放雷拳, Onsoku Hōrai Ken): Void extends his finger and pokes his opponents on the head, unleashing powerful shots of electricity and killing them. Though he's never been seen using it, it's also implied that he can use this technique since he carried another scroll that detailed how this move is performed.
Equipment[]
Swords: Void wields two swords on his back.
In the webcomic, he calls his swords the Legendary Demon Blades.
Body Armor: Void wears modern body armor that provides resistance to damage during battle.
Shuriken: Void also carries a variety of shuriken, with many different styles among them.
Kunai: A set of Japanese knives which are common ninja weapons.
Stun Gun: An electroshock weapon for disabling attackers.
Scrolls: Void has several scrolls on him. They appear to contain the details of several forbidden techniques, as Flashy Flash took some of the scrolls left behind by him and learned a new technique.
Baton: A short bludgeon commonly used by police officers.
Pistol: Among the numerous weapons in his collection is a handgun, with two extra magazines.
Taser: A short-ranged variety of electroshock weapon.

Trivia[]
- In the original webcomic, Empty Void's name was not revealed.
- Void's tendency to harvest the bodily remains of felled enemies and graft them to his own flesh parallels the practices of Kakuzu from Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto series. Kakuzu was a super ninja who would harvest the hearts of defeated shinobi and implant them into himself granting him a form of advanced longevity.
- In the webcomic, he is said to have existed for over 300 years.[2]
