Electric Catfish Man (電気ナマズ男, Denkinamazu Otoko) is one of the two Monster Association monsters assigned to attack D-City.
Appearance[]
Electric Catfish Man is an enlarged catfish with muscular human arms and legs. He has an electric field emitted from his body. He has a tattoo of a battery emoji on his belly.
When in his Plate Tectonics Mode, his mouth is open revealing two eyes within and his skin darkens. He gains armor plating on his belly.[1]
Personality[]
Unlike most other monsters in the association, he appears to have an understanding of the limits of his strength. Additionally, he gave most of the credit of his victory to Gyoro Gyoro and the latter's decision on who he would fight, instead of boastfully taking all of the credit of his victory like most monsters typically would, demonstrating a less arrogant side.
Relationships[]
Maiko Plasma[]
Electric Catfish Man is the implied husband of Maiko Plasma and they share a mutual respect for each other. Electric Catfish Man cares about Maiko Plasma, quickly coming to her aid after Puri-Puri Prisoner defeated Baquma.[2]
Plot[]
Human Monster Saga[]
Monster Raid Arc[]
He and Maiko Plasma go to attack the recently rebuilt D-City. At the city, they encounter Lightning Genji. Unfortunately for Lightning Genji, their attributes nullify his stun attacks.[3] The monster pair eventually defeat Lightning Genji.[4]
Monster Association Arc[]
Back in the Monster Association, she and Electric Catfish Man are discussing their victory over Lightning Genji and remarking that it was thanks to Gyoro Gyoro and his carefully-planned choice of who they would fight that the pair won against the A-class hero.[5]
Later, Electric Catfish Man alongside other Tiger-level monsters, including Maiko Plasma, are attacking Puri-Puri Prisoner. When their attacks have no effect, they attempt to flee only to run into Baquma, a humanoid monster with an elephant face. The suddenly appeared monster tells them not to retreat, to which they angrily ask him to fight the S-Class hero in their place. Baquma agrees and subsequently consumes them all to gain their powers. However, Electric Catfish Man manages to avoid getting sucked up and tries to save his partner Maiko Plasma from being sucked in Baquma, but he fails. After Puri-Puri Prisoner defeats the elephant-like monster, all of the monsters it consumed get freed including his partner. Electric Catfish Man catches a free Maiko Plasma while telling her that something worse than a big earthquake is coming as they leave the area.
He and Maiko Plasma are last seen together bracing against the world-wide earthquake caused by Orochi during the latter's fight with Saitama.[6]
It is unknown whether he and Maiko Plasma survived the destruction of the Monster Association Headquarters
Abilities & Powers[]
As a Tiger-level threat, Electric Catfish Man is a threat to the lives of a great number of people. He is also strong enough to defeat an A-Class hero despite being only a Tiger-level threat thanks to the great type-advantage he had against Lightning Genji. However, even after combined attacks with multiple other monsters against Puri-Puri Prisoner, Electric Catfish Man was unable to even damage the S-Class hero.
Supernatural Abilities[]
Electricity Manipulation: As an electricity-based monster. Electric Catfish Man has the ability to generate electricity. This electricity generation is complemented very well with Maiko Plasma, who absorbed his electricity to power her own electricity generation.
Physical Abilities[]
Underground Mobility: Electric Catfish Man has the ability to dig under the ground at high-speed.
Enhanced Durability: Electric Catfish Man can withstand multiple hits from Lightning Genji, an A-Class hero, on top of having immunity to the electricity of the hero's stun rods.[7]
- Electricity Resistance: Electric Catfish Man is resistant to electricity, as he was unharmed by attacks from Lightning Genji's stun rods.
Enhanced Speed & Reflexes: Electric Catfish Man is able to keep up and outmaneuver Lightning Genji.[8]
Enhanced Strength: Electric Catfish Man can launch humans several feet with punches and tackles. He can also dig through solid concrete fast enough to catch an A-Class hero off-guard.[9]
Fighting Style[]
Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Electric Catfish Man is decent at hand to hand combat and was able to defeat an A-Class hero.
Plate Tectonics Mode (P・T (プレート・テクトニクス) モード, Purēto Tekutonikusu Mōdo): Electric Catfish Man changes his appearance into a more armored state.[10]
Trivia[]
- Electric Catfish Man having a moustache is a pun on the expression ナマズ髭 (Namazu Hige, drooping moustache), that linguistically refers to the fact that a catfish has a moustache.
