The sealing orbs destroyed to summon Cruel Dragon.
Ancient soldiers used the sealing orbs to disperse Cruel Dragon's essence into nine stones and seal them within shrines across different regions. A group of knights known as The Saints were constantly stationed to guard the seals, preventing Cruel Dragon's return. The Saints have clashed with a cult called Deathbone over the seals for the past 800 years, as the cult seeks to awaken the dragon.
Given the presence of a magic circle during Cruel Dragon's release, magic was likely involved in the sealing process.
