"What Was Gained" (得たもの, Eta Mono, Tonari: 215) is the 170th chapter of the One-Punch Man manga series.

Short Summary[]

At the police station, Garou avoids questions about his crimes, frustrating Bang, who insists he apologize to his hero hunt victims. The two then stroll as they engage in casual conversation. Sitch discusses Bang's resignation and plans to introduce Garou to the Hero Association, despite knowing the heroes will oppose him.

Long Summary[]

At the police station, an officer interrogates Garou if he regrets having dined and dashed in a restaurant. When he does not answer the question and instead talks about his beliefs, Bang knocks him from behind. After leaving the police station, Bang tells Garou he must apologize to the victims of his hero hunt, much to Garou's annoyance, who responds saying the reason he is with Bang is that he may recall his fighting style with the old man's help. Meanwhile, in a playground at a park, Tareo is playing with his friends in a game revolving around villains and heroes. They are interrupted by Waganma, who arrives by car with his father Narinki and joins them.

Back to the conversation between the master and the disciple, Garou expresses his wish to spar with the heroes he once fought as a monster, which includes Bang. Garou believes that by battling them again, it is possible for him to reach some kind of awakening without monsterizing.

At the Hero Association Headquarters, Sitch discusses with Sekingar regarding Bang's resignation as a hero and his desire to introduce a certain person into the association in order to replace him, with Sekingar not realising that Garou is the person in question. Knowing that the heroes will oppose Garou joining them, Sitch nonetheless accepts that preparing for Shibabawa's last prophecy is paramount.

The master and the disciple continue strolling around. Bang soon asks Garou which type of girl he likes. Although Garou is taken aback by his master asking such a question, he eventually answers that he fancies Kiiro, an actress from a sentai show. Before long, the two begin a discussion about the current state of sentai shows. In the drained remains of the sea following the Monster Association incident, Saitama and Genos are searching for what's left of their apartment, while a shrunk Overgrown Rover sits on the shoreline and watches them.
