"Greatest Hero" (最高のヒーロー, Saikō no Hīrō, Tonari: 207) is the 162nd chapter of the One-Punch Man manga series.
Short Summary[]
The hero rescue team discusses the recent defeat of monsters, with Tareo noting that Garou, whom he calls "uncle," was responsible. Suddenly, an earthquake strikes as Saitama battles Garou fiercely. Tareo swims back to confront Garou, calling him a hero despite his monstrous appearance. Garou insists he's not a hero, but Tareo argues that he saved him multiple times. Saitama intervenes, challenging Garou while Tareo tries to prevent further conflict, fearing Garou will harm the heroes.
Long Summary[]
The hero rescue team discusses recent events with Sekingar. While the dangerous situation appears to have calmed down, Sekingar reminds the other heroes that monsters can still pop out at any time, thus they should carry out their rescue operations quickly. Lightning Max questions the defeats of Sage Centipede and Evil Ocean Water, to which Tareo responds that it was "uncle" (what he calls Garou) who has defeated them. Mumen Rider asks Tareo if the "uncle" he is talking about wears a tank top, which Tareo replies he does not think so. To their surprise, an earthquake suddenly occurs, and they wonder if something bad is happening again.
Meanwhile, far into the skies, the fight between Garou and Saitama, the source of the seismic, starts for real. Despite Garou viciously attacking him, Saitama is able to comfortably fend off his assault. He then throws a punch at Garou but the Hero Hunter manages to dodge his punch before ax-kicking him into the ground, causing great destruction to a landmass on impact. As Saitama quickly stands up, Garou charges at him with a hand chop, directly striking his head. However, Saitama no-sells his chop and retaliates with a head butt that obliterates Garou's forearm. Despite the damage, Garou instantly regenerates his forearm and proceeds to attack Saitama, who, on the other hand, just wants to talk with him. Out of frustration, Saitama punches Garou, sending him flying a far distance away towards Tareo and the other heroes's whereabouts. Just as Tareo comes up to him, Garou's body begins mutating, something that frightens the boy. Seeing Garou as a monster, Max and Sneck jump in and drag Tareo away from him. The wounded and other heroes all soon get into two boats with Tareo and leave. While the boat carrying him starts heading towards the sea, Tareo gets away from it and swims back to land in order to meet with Garou.
Despite encountering Garou in his mutated form, Tareo is not afraid and instead calls him a hero. Annoyed by Tareo, Garou again tries to explain to him he is not a hero but is denied by the boy, who tells him that he was saved by Garou four times. Tareo goes on by stating that Garou is the greatest hero in his eyes and telling him to stop pretending to be a monster. As Garou seems to be upset, Saitama shows up. Like Tareo, he also states that Garou is pretending to be a monster and then talks about his "cosplay". While Saitama slowly walks to them, Garou tells Tareo to watch closely as he will show him how powerless the heroes are. Tareo attempts to stop him from fighting Saitama, stating that he will be acknowledged as a real monster should he hurt more heroes. When he is right in front of Garou, Saitama taunts him to attack him, causing Garou to punch him hard in the head, to Tareo's shock. Unfazed by the punch, Saitama reassures Tareo that he will not get hurt. Garou immediately attempts another attack on Saitama but is thrown away by the hero with a slap. Tareo calls out Garou and is asked by the Caped Baldy if he wants him to stop Garou. Tareo responds with a nod to which Saitama then heads towards the Hero Hunter.
