| — Blast to Empty Void. |
Blast vs. Empty Void is the retconned battle between the top-ranked S-Class hero Blast and Empty Void, the leader of the Ninja Village.
Although the main focus is on Blast and Void, the fight includes interruptions from other characters, such as Speed-o'-Sound Sonic, Flashy Flash, and Saitama.
Prelude[]
After noticing that the challenge letter from Sonic to Flash appears suspicious, Blast follows Flash discreetly from above. However, he loses track of him in the fog surrounding the mountains. Fortunately, he is able to find Flash again thanks to Void's Dimension Slash. This turns out to be crucial, as Blast arrives just in time to save the ninja duo from Void. He then praises Sonic and Flash for resisting the temptation of the mysterious cube before confronting Void in battle.
Battle[]
Blast dodges Void's double-sword strike.
Blast and Void charge at each other, preparing to strike. Blast successfully lands a Gravity Knuckle on Void in the face, while Void's sword swing is halted midway, failing to connect. This time, instead of being sent flying, Void remains grounded and quickly retaliates with a downward diagonal double-sword slash. Blast dodges by jumping upward. Forming two gravity orbs in his hands, he grabs both of Void's wrists, pinning him to the ground with the immense gravitational force of the orbs, which results in a crater beneath them. With Void's hands restrained, Blast points out that Void can only access the higher dimension if he is free enough to perform a hand seal. He adds that he has spent the last 15 years refining his skills to restrain without killing, to capture Void alive. Despite being bound, Void conjures multiple energy spheres resembling the light powers of Homeless Emperor and launches them at Blast from behind.
Blast summons multiple black orbs.
Recognizing the attack as "the light of divine power," Blast summons several similarly-sized black orbs of dark energy to intercept the projectiles, neutralizing them entirely. Aiming to capture Void alive, Blast shoots a gravity orb from his hand at Void's chest to further restrain him. Sonic suddenly throws two explosive kunais at Void in an attempt to finish him off while he is restrained. In response, Blast kicks the kunais away, firmly telling Sonic not to interfere unnecessarily. At this moment, Blast is caught off guard as Void begins absorbing the gravitational orbs binding him, taunting if this is unexpected for Blast. Once his hands are free, Void performs the hand seal, which does not go unnoticed by Blast, who quickly shoots two more orbs of gravity in an attempt to restrain him again. This fails as Void instantly teleports to the hyperspace dimension, his laughter echoing while Blast, Sonic, and Flash watch in confusion.
Void launching a Dimensional Slash.
Blast is surprised that his power of darkness, which seals the power of light, was absorbed by Void. Quickly, Void launches a Dimension Slash from the higher dimension. Blast quickly takes hold of both Sonic and Flash, using a portal to transport them out of harm's way. The slash cleaves the ground in half, bisecting mountains and clouds in the distance as collateral damage.
As Blast observes the damage caused by Void's Dimension Slash, he wonders if Void has grown stronger. Void then teleports back to the scene and kicks Blast in the back, sending all three to the ground, though they quickly regain their footing. Now appearing closer to his human form, with his face glowing darkly as if cosmic dust swirls within, Void explains to Blast that he sensed something was amiss ever since absorbing Garou's divine power. He labels Garou a failed creation, stating that despite being endowed with power by "God", Garou harbored a dark nature that defied the entity. Consequently, since absorbing Garou's power, Blast's power of darkness is ineffective against Void. He adds that he has just recalled his rage towards Blast, which "God's" will had made him forget.
Blast using portals to continuously attack Void.
Blast tosses his sunglasses to Flash and opens a blackhole-like portal to teleport to Void, delivering a kick that Void blocks. Void employs his Spiraling Wind Blade, generating multiple 360-degree slashes, which Blast dodges. Blast opens a portal and punches through it, redirecting the strike to Void's face. He follows up with a flying kick through another portal, hitting Void on the right side and asserting that Void shouldn't underestimate him just because his Dimension Cannon and Gravity Knuckle are no longer effective. Blast opens yet another portal, delivering another punch that connects with Void's back through the exit point. This sequence continues several times until Blast opens a portal from above and drops down to deliver a knee strike to Void's back. Aware that if Void escapes into another dimension, he won't be able to track him, Blast resolves not to give him that chance, opening another portal to throw another punch aimed at Void's back once more. However, to his surprise, Void demonstrates enhanced flexibility, twisting his limbs and neck 180 degrees, counter-attacking by slicing Blast's forearm off as he attempts the punch.
Void slicing Blast's forearm off.
Despite taking multiple blows, Void remains relatively unscathed from the assault. With Blast's right forearm severed, Void points out that Blast can no longer teleport, as he needs to put his fists together to do so. He mocks Blast's desperate tactic of using portals to target his blind spot and declares that now Blast will witness him unleash Dimension Slashes to devastate the cities and their inhabitants, as Blast is powerless to intervene. Blast retorts that Void is poor at lying. He states that if Void were still the same as he was 15 years ago, he would have already killed Blast. Blast attributes this change in personality to Void's absorption of Garou's power, which included the Hero Hunter's essence, suggesting that "God's" brainwashing is starting to wear off. For a moment, Void hesitates before delivering several cuts across Blast's body.
Void impales the injured Blast in the right side of the chest and tortures him, telling him he is the one who should "wake up". He labels Blast as bringing only bad things to those around him, questioning who he has managed to protect. Void then asks if Blast has a child and notices a shift in Blast's eyes. Flash intervenes, attempting to impale Void, but Void parries the strike with his own sword. Flash asks Void why, if he already knew about Blast's weakness, he didn't target his child. In response, Void delivers a horizontal slash across Flash's chest, wounding him and pushing him back. Sonic also intervenes with a Wind Blade Kick on Void, but misses as he instantly teleports to hyperspace again.
Void about to attack the three from hyperspace.
In hyperspace, Void laments that he would prefer tormenting them little by little rather than slicing them apart from afar. Nevertheless, he decides to unleash a Dimension Slash in an attempt to eliminate Blast, Sonic, and Flash. The colossal blade of the attack materializes in the physical world and moves toward the three, leaving them helpless to defend against it. Fortunately, Saitama happens to be in the path of the attack and casually stops the blade with his right hand. Void is astounded that his attack, which cleaves through space itself, was halted. He attempts another strike, trying to impale Saitama with his other dimension sword. However, Saitama again catches the incoming blade with his left hand, which confuses Void, and forcibly pulls the blade backward, dragging Void down from hyperspace to the surface, embedding him into the ground and causing him to lose both of his swords in the process.
Blast teleports into Void and merges with him.
Void soon bursts from the ground and leaps into the air, realizing that his dimension swords are gone. Sonic and Flash jump to pursue him, attempting to impale Void, who remains confident and prepares the hand seal to move into hyperspace again. However, Blast acts swiftly by transferring blood flow and neural signals between the severed parts of his arm and opens a blackhole-like portal to teleport directly onto Void, merging himself with him. Void realizes that this fusion could tear their biological structures apart, questioning Blast if he wants to die. Blast recalls his conversation with Sitch, in which he mentioned he would fuse with Void to capture him if everything else failed. However, Blast's attempt fails as the light power within Void's body repels him, causing both to cancel their merging. As the two land on the ground, Blast, having glimpsed Void's memories during their consciousness overlap, becomes aware of the figure whose hand Void took in the illusion projected by the mysterious cube.
