Overview |
Apollo (アポロ, Aporo) is an artificial esper and an agent of the psychic research organization, Tsukuyomi.[1]
Appearance[]
Apollo is a man of average height and build. He has pale hair and large eyes with very small pupils. His most notable facial feature is the star/cross pattern which runs horizontally along his forehead.
He dresses in a very formal manner; wearing a pair of white gloves, dark dress shoes and pants, a belt, a plain white tie, and a dark dress shirt which resembles the night sky/outer space.
During his introduction, Apollo wore a simple white mask with a large smile and a star/cross pattern similar to that on his forehead.
Personality[]
Apollo is a cunning and calculated antagonist with a collected demeanor, not being easily thrown off, and is capable of thinking ahead, making quick-witted, optimal decisions on the fly; an example of this can be seen when he destroyed the cameras and released Demon Level Monsters into a basement he locked everyone in to avoid suspicion as to why his captives would've disappeared.
He's demonstrated himself to have a superiority complex when it comes to natural espers, believing they should all be eradicated. However, while arrogant and willing to test his raw power during a fight, Apollo is also a realist who knows his limits; if he feels outmatched, he'll usually resort to using a backup plan he'd set up beforehand, and isn't above using underhanded tactics in order to punch above his weight class.
Apollo has also shown himself to be a very cruel individual and demonstrates certain behaviors typical of a sociopath, such as having little to no regard for the well-being of other people and having no qualms about harming or even killing them in order to achieve his own goals.
History[]
Not much is known about Apollo's history, however, while fighting him, Tatsumaki admits that artificial espers have improved. This suggests that Apollo had been strengthened over time, possibly including his resistance against the poison that should have killed him instantly.

Psychic Sisters Arc[]
Apollo arrives at the Hero Association headquarters and is escorted by some staff to visit Psykos within her cell. When mentioning his affiliation with Tsukuyomi, Psykos wakes up and abruptly telekinetically attacks Apollo. Apollo fends off the attack with his own power and prepares to acquire Psykos and leave. Soon, Fubuki, Saitama, and the Blizzard Group arrive with Fubuki telling everyone that Tatsumaki will soon arrive and try to kill Psykos. Immediately afterward, Tatsumaki shows up and attempts to drop rubble on Psykos, but Fubuki and Apollo protect her. Tatsumaki sends Apollo flying into the wall, telling him to get lost.
It turns out that Fubuki and Tatsumaki knew that the Tsukuyomi were going after Psykos and hatched a plan to prevent this. Being stronger than she thought, Apollo soon gets back up and destroys the cameras to prevent others from knowing what is going on. The two of them clash and in the process Saitama falls underground.
Apollo realizes he is fighting a losing battle and decides to telekinetically activate a sleeping pill that Fubuki took by accident, stating that there was another one with deadly poison inside. With this, Apollo forces Tatsumaki's hand and gets her to stop resisting. Apollo mocks Tatsumaki for not seeing this coming as he twists her spine and crumples her into a ball.
Apollo releases Demon-level monsters that were locked in the floor below and explains that people wouldn't question their disappearance thinking Tatsumaki caused the release during her rampage and the monsters ate all of them.
Apollo's partner, a spy in the Blizzard Group, reveals himself, flying up to meet with Apollo as they all attempt to slip away with the psychic sisters and Psykos. Infuriated, multiple Fubuki Group members attack Apollo but he dispatches them easily.
The monsters are about to arrive when suddenly to everyone's surprise Saitama jumps out among a large amount of monster guts having killed them all. During this time, Tatsumaki found a way to counter Apollo's strategy and extract the poison in the form of a very small needle. The needle flies out and pierces both of Apollo's hands going into his eye as he fails to block it. Before capturing him in a large sphere made of rubble, Tatsumaki admits she is surprised Apollo didn't die instantly and says she is going to wring all he knows about Tsukuyomi out of him. Apollo's partner is also knocked out while trying to escape.
While Tatsumaki throws a fit and goes outside to fight with Saitama, Apollo and his partner tunnel out of the basement and into the parking lot without anyone noticing until later. They then forcefully escape by car. As his partner drives the car, Apollo uses some type of syringe or EpiPen to heal himself and swears to take revenge on Tatsumaki.
Abilities and Powers[]
Apollo is a powerful artificial esper. He was able to easily overpower Fubuki with a quick psychic attack and also quickly neutralize Psykos, although she was implied to be at least partially weakened by the drugs given to her by the Hero Association. Later, Apollo was able to briefly clash against a casual Tatsumaki, but the heroine proved too much for him and easily overwhelmed him.
Supernatural Abilities[]
Psychokinesis: Apollo has demonstrated high level skill in the usage of telekinesis, repelling an unexpected attack from Psykos as well as immobilizing Tatsumaki, although she purposely let herself be restrained due to Fubuki being taken hostage.
- Flight: Apollo can use psychokinesis to levitate and fly through the air.
- Psychic Barriers: Apollo can form psychic barriers to defend against attacks.
Fighting Style[]
Skilled Psychic Combatant: Apollo has demonstrated himself to be highly skilled in combative use of his esper powers.
- Psychic Strike (念打, Nen-da): By making a chopping motion with his fingers, Apollo can deliver a powerful strike on the back of a nearby target's neck using his telekinesis, allowing him to quickly knock them unconscious without needing to get close.
Quotes[]
- (To Tatsumaki) "I see... When it comes to telekinetic output... I may be at a very slight disadvantage."
- (To Tatsumaki) "You have supernatural powers, yet you couldn't even see this coming?"
- "Well, it's no surprise that natural psychics lack balance. They have no harmony. They are a defective species that needs to go extinct."
