Accel (アクセル, Akuseru; Viz: Axel) is the founder and current leader of the Neo Hunters. He works as a hero for the Neo Heroes.

Appearance[]

Accel is a young man with messy black hair and dark eyes. He wears a long-sleeved black shirt below a vest with pockets, armored gauntlets, jeans pants with knee pads and roller blades on his feet. He later upgrades to a Neo Heroes Battle Suit

Personality[]

Accel comes off as a man of integrity who looks after the well being of his subordinates in the Hunters crew with great responsibility. These traits feed into his very untrusting outlook of the current Hero Association, with him stating that they are a vain organization who only care more about their wealth and reputation than humanity's well being. Additionally, his morality makes him suspicious of Ryumon, who he believes only joined the Neo Heroes to get access to weapons for his gang activities.

He's also particularly observant, noting how, in spite of the number of resources previously at their disposal, the HA focuses more on catering to the rich and influential. He recognizes how they obsess over keeping up personal appearances, constantly hoard assets, and take their staff for granted while conveniently ignoring some of their shadier or more questionable proclivities are all more prevalent within the HA than actually getting anything done.

Despite his condescension of the organization, Accel respects the working staff whom actually put their lives on the line in service to the whole instead of the few who can afford it. In particular, the vigilante holds a great deal of esteem for a few heroes amongst their roster, in particularly Mumen Rider, who Accel admits inspired the Hunters to take up arms against the monsters to begin with. He even goes so far as to say the former's courage in the face of hopeless odds was legendary in his eyes. He'd even given the eponymous hero a specially designed powered exo-mantle to commemorate his heroic nature.

Furthermore, Accel is capable of recognizing his own limitations. Accel is sharp enough and forthcoming in the fact that his paragon doesn't have the necessary power to put out against deadlier foes.

Plot[]

Neo Heroes Saga[]

Neo Heroes Introduction Arc[]

Accel is approached by Shizuka, a Hero Association scout with the offer to have his vigilante group, The Hunters, join the Hero Association in exchange for monetary and medical support. But Accel, pointing out the latter's inability to properly handle the latest threats and their dwindling regard for the common people, immediately turns down the scout's offer.[2]

As the scout is leaving, Accel tells her that the current Hero Association won't exist for long as a new Hero Organization, that he and the rest of the Hunters have already joined, called the Neo Heroes will soon be announced to the public. He also informs her that, along with himself and the rest of the Hunters, many of the Hero Association's current sponsors are planning to join the Neo Heroes as well and that they have already reached out to several S-Class heroes behind closed doors.[3]

Neo Heroes Uprising Arc[]

Accel is later shown at the Neo Heroes leader meeting. While the leaders discuss Sweet Mask's fate prior to the meeting, Accel expresses his pity for the hero-turned-monster's plight. Upon Ryumon's introduction, Accel questions the idea to supply a gangster with weapons, to which Ryumon responds that the souls of his gang have been cleansed.[4]

When Explosive Velocity Snail, a Demon-level Mysterious Being, causes havoc on the highway, Accel shows up to dispatch it. He engages in combat with the large snail, hitting it with his poison-tipped axe to lead it towards a blocked-off branch of the highway. Waiting on this branch are Accel's group the Neo Hunters, who kill the snail with their spears.
