Now if i wanted to factor in the fact that they did not stay manga accurate ? Then the rating would drop even lower.
Anyways, judging in terms of animation and ignoring the story aspect - It wasn't the worst the season had to offer but certainly far from the best, which was ep 8.
PM's transformations weren't handled very well. It did not feel as impactful as it was in the manga. Even though hearing some season 1 osts again was good but they did not bring in the same impact either. It had a few good or at least decent moments like the millenium emperor nova. but the decent cuts would frequently get ruined by the choppy pacing or the placement of the subsequent frames.
Judging purely on basis of animation or story boarding and being very generous, it is a 4/10 for me.
From one frame man to non canon man we have come a long way
There is an actual character by that name in invincible verse

This is after watching ep 9 which was hyped as the best of this season
Ep 8 is still the best in the season so far
Same Gums has been reacted to by pig god who isnt even a speed specialist and probably among the slowest s class heroes.
If pig god of all people can react to you, you can't be that fast as a dragon level threat
Gums also didn't speedblitz genos or anything. he only caught him off guard when his attention wasn't even on him. An even though he had genos arm in his mouth for quite a few moments he couldnt even chomp off his arm- The same genos who is still a glass cannon like in all his forms and takes damage from fodder black s clones. He literally still takes damage from demon level threats despite having the fire power to fight dragons
Forget putting PM in his stomach, gums isn't even putting him in his mouth. He will be forced to spit him out before he can get him down his throat every time he tries to swallow him due to the heat.
PM is no idiot to let himself be swallowed again if gums even manages to even get him once in his mouth that is. Which itself is nigh impossible as His speed should be far superior to gums regardless.
Gums can regen but he is no zombieman. PM's speed advantage would allow him to get enough hits while staying out of harm's way to the point his regen would reach its limit.
The first half of the ep was good. FF vs gale and hellfire is undoubtedly the best fight in season 3 so far, Nowhere near season 1 quality ofc.
But still arguably even better than a lot of fights even in season 2 (i.e garou vs metal bat, saitama vs suiryu, red hair garou vs bang).
The camera work, the choreography was good, the osts were used well and there was only one scene with a filter, which was actually tolerable.
That's not to say it didn't have any issues: The art looked a bit rough and weird in some places, A few transitions felt stiff and i think flashy kicks could have been done better without the ghosting. But the issues were a lot less noticeable compared to the previous episodes.
Second half showed some dip in quality - They brought back the repititive filters. Child emperor destroying phoenix man could have been done better, Still it did have some good cuts in child emperor vs g5 such as the three headed cerebus transformation.
Overall a 6/10 episode for me. Would have given it a 7 if the second half kept as much animation and quality as the first
Gums struggled so much just to chomp down tank top master. he is not chomping down PM, especially not in his 10000 c form.
Can gums endure 10000 celcius?
It did not have any 'horror' element at all. The whole transformation barely even had any movement. You get more of the horror element this scene by reading the manga
There is a fan animation of this transformation that executes the scene 1000 times better with actual movement even if with cgi

Being a little better animated than the worst rated episode in all of anime history is not really a feat now is it....

Cold as ice? You mean this? 😭😭
Anime orochi has absolutely no aura, And majority of the manga readers I know agree with me
At this point even if we somehow get a 10/10 episode among the episodes to come (which is nearly impossible), the damage is already done
If we want good story , art and dialgue we can literally just read the manga lol
Anime is supposed to bring life to the manga
