This thread is for the purpose of officially discussing the viability of Technique pages and whether they should be included in the wiki.
First I will preface that there is precedent for these types of pages on other wiki's. The My Hero Academia Wiki, Naruto Wiki and Black Clover Wiki's are prominent wikis that allow Technique pages though each under their own styling such as Super Moves, Jutsus and Spells respectively. Some wiki's elect not to use them when they could such One Piece being the most prominent example I can think of. We already make use of similar pages already such as the Powers pages and the Fighting Style pages.
I believe there are several benefits to Technique pages that we miss out on by just having a description on the character's pages.
The first clear benefit to them is that they can display images for the Techniques in the infobox, showing them in the Manga, Webcomic and Anime. For characters who have multiple techniques it is impractical to try and display them all on their page, so each technique having its own page would allow for them to be demonstrated more easily. A description is good, but a description with images is better.
The second clear benefit is that each Technique having their own page means that more information can be displayed for them beyond just a description. When the technique debuted, which fights were the Techniques used in and how effectively were they used, what differences between webcomic, manga and anime portrayal of the techniques exist, if any? What other users have used the same technique?
Another benefit that comes to mind would be the navigation between different techniques through Navboxes. After viewing the technique for one character you can simply check the Navbox and be able to see techniques used by other characters without having to go searching through pages.
Here is an example of what a Technique page could look like: https://onepunchman.fandom.com/wiki/User:Damage3245/Sandbox2
Now, there is some concern that the Technique pages will end up leading to redundant information on the wiki. I think that this is partially inevitable but there are solutions to it.
On the characters' abilities sections, there could be a brief description of the technique and reference for it. Clicking the link on the technique will then take you to the Technique's page where you can get more information as I listed up above. This cuts down a lot on redundancy; all that would be required is a slight edit to a lot of the current Technique descriptions.
So, redundant information will not be a big issue if the pages are implemented correctly. Bear in mind that from a certain perspective there is already cases where information about something is displayed in more than one place; chapter summaries, story arc summaries, character synopsises, fight summaries, etc. Overlapping repeated information is already present to an extent. I don't think that should be a major reason not to allow the Technique pages.
I don't expect this to be resolved right away so I'm interested in hearing people's opinions and what they think about the potential benefits of implementing them.
